Levac Health & Safety is proud to collaborate with Occu-Med Health Services to deliver a ‘medical surveillance’ program. This partnership reinforces our commitment to safeguarding worker health by proactively identifying risks, preventing occupational illnesses, and promoting a safer work environment.
This program is required by the Ministry of Labour, to protect the health of employees exposed to Asbestos, Benzene, Coke Oven Emissions, Isocyanates, Lead (inorganic and organic), Mercury (alkyl and non-alkyl compounds) and/or Silica.
Our onsite program brings nurses, technicians and portable x-ray equipment to your facility, saving you time and reducing your costs:
• Time away from work is minimized -- employees are seen at their place of work, reducing downtime and eliminating the need to travel to a physician's office.
• Expenses are reduced because there is no mileage/travel time incurred.
• Groups of employees can be done in a short amount of time, and testing of your entire team can be completed in hours or days, not weeks.
The medical surveillance program takes care of all of this:
• A mobile & onsite program
• Employee health assessment
• Pulmonary function test
• Chest X-Ray
• Reporting via a “Fit Letter” specified by the Ministry of Labour and produced for each employee tested.
1. You identify the list of employees that have a likelihood (or possibility) of exposure, and roughly how those employees split out over your shift schedule.
2. We schedule nurses, an x-ray team and support staff so that we can test your employees on their shift schedule. Together, we agree on the schedule dates & times.
3. You notify employees. Our team arrives and we get to work.
Our team needs a place to work: a boardroom, meeting room or empty office. We need functional, not pretty. We’re flexible and will work with what you have as best as we can.
