Commonly used for welding, cutting, brazing and heating, the Oxy acetylene process is one of the best techniques available for many applications. Oxy-acetylene welding and cutting is a very versatile method. However, acetylene is an unstable hydrocarbon that must be handled with care. The use of oxygen and acetylene gases presents a number of potential hazards: high pressure, flammability, asphyxiation and oxygen enrichment. Consequently, it is very important to respect all safety measures and applicable regulations when using, transporting or storing. This safety awareness course provides instruction on safely handling, setting up, and operating the equipment. Key areas include identifying flame types (neutral, oxidizing, carburizing), cylinder safety, and equipment inspection (regulators, flashback arrestors).
