The SVOP (Small Vessel Operator Proficiency) Training is a Transport Canada-approved course required for many operators of small commercial vessels in Canada. It allows you to operate certain non-pleasure vessels in near coastal and sheltered waters. Typically required for: Water taxis, charter boats, Sport fishing boats, crew boats, Whale watching vessels, Small commercial work boats (up to 5 gross tons), fishing vessels up to 15 gross tons or 12 metres in length in certain waters.
